How to Rent a Farmhouse Near Your City for a Weekend (Complete Checklist)
By GharStey Team ·
Shehar ki bheed se door ek weekend — lawn, khula aasmaan, family ya dosto ke saath barbecue. Farmhouse rentals near big cities are popular for exactly this reason. But a good weekend depends on asking the right questions before you pay or confirm. Yeh checklist usi ke liye hai.
1. Decide the purpose first
Farmhouse ka choice purpose se decide hota hai:
- Family getaway — safety, clean rooms, kitchen and a caretaker matter most.
- Friends' party — check whether music, outside guests and late hours are allowed.
- Small event (birthday, pooja, get-together) — confirm the maximum guest count, parking and whether decorators/caterers can come in.
Owner ko clearly batao ki aap kis purpose se book kar rahe ho. Bahut saari properties events ke liye alag rate ya alag rules rakhti hain.
2. Pick the right distance
For a 1–2 night trip, choose a place you can reach comfortably without losing half your weekend on the road. Check the route on a map at the time you will actually travel (Friday evening traffic is very different from Sunday morning). The last few kilometres to farmhouses are often village or kachchi roads — ask the owner whether a regular car can reach easily, especially in monsoon.
3. Ask these questions before booking
Copy this list and send it to the owner on WhatsApp:
- Total price — is it per night or per day (e.g. 10 AM to 8 PM)? What are check-in and check-out times?
- How many guests are included, and is there an extra charge per person?
- Is there a security deposit? When and how is it returned?
- Power backup — inverter or generator? For how many hours? (Very important in summer.)
- Is drinking water provided? Is the swimming pool cleaned before each booking?
- Is a caretaker on site at night? Is there a cook, or can we use the kitchen?
- House rules: music, alcohol, pets, outside food, bonfire/barbecue?
- Cancellation policy if plans change or it rains heavily?
Jo bhi answer mile, use chat mein likhit (in writing) rakho. Verbal promises baad mein confusion create karte hain.
4. Verify the property
- Ask for recent photos or a short video call walk-through, not just old listing photos.
- Check the owner's ID and the exact location pin before you travel.
- Avoid paying the full amount in advance to an unknown person. Paying a reasonable advance and the balance on arrival is a common, safer approach.
5. Pack smart
Mosquito repellent, torch, power bank, basic first-aid, extra drinking water, and garbage bags (leave the place clean — owners remember good guests). If there is a pool, carry swimwear and keep an adult watching children at all times.
6. On arrival
Do a quick check with the caretaker: electricity, water, gas, pool condition, and any existing damage. Take photos of anything already broken so there is no dispute over the deposit later.
GharStey par farmhouse dhoondhein: use the Farmhouse filter on the home page, sort by distance, and send a booking request with your dates and guest count. The owner can accept or reject, and you can talk directly before confirming anything.
